I'm Ava, the founder and creator behind The Sex Talk Shop! After almost a decade of making sex ed resources for other organizations by their standards, I decided it was time to make Christian sex ed resources accessible for everyone using the standards of a holistic Creator. It is my privilege and honor to stock The Sex Talk Shop with resources at all price points to meet you where you are. We were made for more than what the world and generalized Church offers us, and I'm thrilled to be part of a movement headed towards a truly Biblical sex ethic.
How The Sex Talk Shop Got Here
In 2017, Ava began working for Iowa State University's Division of Student Affairs in the newly created Office of Student Health and Wellness. As part of the student team that broke ground for this office, Ava was instrumental in the creation and implementation of numerous trainings, workshops, and educational materials to equip both Iowa State students and student leaders.

By the fall of 2018, Ava had transitioned to a Resident Assistant position in the Department of Residence. With this role came the freedom to create even more in-depth sexual education programs and workshops for Iowa State students living in the residence halls. From sex ed bingo to hands-on safe sex experiences, the programs Ava created and led impacted the lives of hundreds of college co-eds.

Teaching and creating materials took a backseat from 2021-2023 as Ava sought to heal her own sex ethic, unlearning and relearning and experiencing both personal and marital restoration. It was during this time that Ava realized how much she (and her husband) were *not* taught - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

As the need for this kind of balanced and holistic God-centered sex ethic education became more obvious to Ava, she realized it was too big for the Knotty Living Blog and dreams of this space began.

Which brings us to June 2024! The launch of The Sex Talk Shop and our first product and workbook - Let's Talk: Pride Month. It's only the beginning, and we're thrilled to walk alongside you as you learn, unlearn, reclaim, and ultimately, heal.
